James Augustus Lynch
James Augustus Lynch was born Jan 3rd, 1906 in Roxbury, MA. He enlisted as a private in the Massachusetts National Guard on April 10, 1928, serving in the 241st Coast Artillery. He earned his commission on Sept 16th, 1940. He was assigned to the 57th Fighter Group in 1942. The 57th Fighter Group did the grand tour and was active for all of WW2. The group saw action in North Africa, Siciliy, and Italy. Overall, the 57th Fighter Group flew over 3000 sorties. Although not a pilot, Major Lynch at that time, made sure the pilots had everything they needed to do their jobs. After the war, he went back to the Massachusetts National Guard. He retired in 1966 with the rank of Brigadier General. He passed away in 1975

Greg Lynch Jr
Greg Lynch Jr is the grandson of James Lynch. He works in the entertainment industry. He built movie sets from 1988 until 2010. Starting in 2016, he completed 3 documentaries. Two dealt with famous Olympic fencers. One was about an ancient Chinese Qigong practice called Iron Crotch.
Greg Lynch was responsible for curating and editing his grandfather’s memoir. He is currently working on the story of his Grandfather’s time in the Western Desert during WW2 into a documentary. This website is part of the promotional efforts.
